(Jump down to the headings for the short and snappy version!)

Want to unwind from the workweek or take up a new hobby without the pressure of making something ‘perfect’?

Maybe you’ve tried some craft workshops elsewhere but the fluorescent lights/ bright colours/ weird smells/ lack of nice music/general vibe didn’t feel relaxing to you?

If you would rather take things at your own pace in a soothing, supportive and uplifting space and not worry about outcomes, this is for you!

-----

These weekly sessions provide an avenue for you to get your hands dirty and pinch, coil, smooth and squish to your heart’s desire.

With a focus on sensory exploration and play instead of creating finished products this class is not restricted by the usual rules in pottery about how to make things (even thicknesses, specific ways of joining clay etc.)

Works won’t be fired in this class- instead, the focus is on enjoying yourself in the moment and connecting with clay, the earth and each other!

All clay will be recycled at the end of the class, providing a lesson in non-attachment.

WHEN

  • Monday nights, 4pm-5pm (select your date)

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

  • how to work intuitively with your hands
  • more about yourself- your artistic preferences and what you are capable of creating!

WHAT WILL I MAKE?

  • Whatever you like!
  • There are no rules- the only limits are your imagination
  • This is a place to test the limits of the clay- explore, experiment and play unselfconsciously
  • Works will NOT be fired and will be recycled after class- just like a sandcastle at the beach!

WHO WILL BE TEACHING ME?

Sarah Muir-Smith from Snakebird Designs will be your teacher. Having several years of teaching experience, she prides herself on providing a fun, supportive environment to learn through play.

Respect for nature and the materials used are integral to Sarah’s practice. Enthusiastic and patient, Sarah loves assisting her students to come out of their shell and get in touch with their creative side.

In her past life at her office job, Sarah was a member of the disability committee and is neurodivergent. The teaching space is suited to her own sensory needs- think warm fairy lights, soft music, lots of plants!

WHO ARE THESE SESSIONS FOR?

  • People with disability, neurodiverse people and young people are particularly welcomed to these sessions, but everybody is invited to come along and have a play!
  • Please note: unfortunately the studio can only be accessed via a flight of stairs which may cause difficulties for those with certain mobility needs.

I HAVE A QUESTION!
